Liquid damage is one of the most time-sensitive repairs there is. The moment a laptop is powered on with liquid still inside, a short circuit can turn a simple cleaning job into a full board replacement. If you've spilled something, power the device off immediately, unplug it, remove the battery if possible, and bring it in as soon as you can — don't wait for it to “dry out” on its own. Once it's with us, we fully disassemble the unit, clean the logic board and connectors of residue and corrosion, inspect for any damaged components, and test everything before reassembly.
Common signs to look out for
- Laptop won't turn on after a spill
- Keys are sticky or unresponsive
- Screen shows flickering or discoloured lines
- Device powers on then shuts off randomly
- Battery won't charge properly
- A burning or unusual smell after the spill
What usually causes it
- Corrosion forming on the circuit board

How we diagnose this
Power-down safety check
We confirm the device is off and, if possible, the battery is disconnected to stop any short circuit spreading.
Full disassembly
The laptop is stripped down to expose the board, keyboard membrane and connectors.
Cleaning & corrosion treatment
Every affected component is cleaned of residue and corrosion, not just wiped down externally.
Component-level testing
Each subsystem is tested individually before we reassemble and hand the laptop back.
