“Flickergate” is the name Surface owners gave to a recurring display fault, most widely reported on Surface Pro 3 and 4, though later models aren't immune — the screen flickers, dims, or shows a faint vertical band, often getting worse over time. In most cases the display panel itself is fine; the fault traces to the display connector cable or the board-level component driving it. We test the panel independently from the cable and driver circuit to confirm exactly which is at fault, so you're not paying for a full screen replacement when a smaller, cheaper fix will do.
Common signs to look out for
- Intermittent flickering that comes and goes
- Screen dims unexpectedly then returns to normal
